Is this a case of Capitalism run amok?

Read this interesting but somewhat frightening article about the global market for human organs.
". . . If you lose your job, you can sell your home. If you lose your home, you can sell your possessions. If you lose your possessions, you can prostitute yourself. And if you lose everything else, you can sell one more thing: your organs."
What is your reaction?

Capitalism at its finest, babay! I don't see how this can possibly infringe on anyone's rights. It's a little (big, rather) beautiful black market that helps save lives yet cripple the physical lives of poor individuals that give out there organs for a pitiful amount of money. Yes, it might sound horrible, but it should be perfectly legal. An individual has his/her right to his/her body. I wouldn't really take my word for it (who ever's reading this) considerring that i believe male and female prostitution should be legallized because it will economically benefit our nation and globe. Hopefully the Grand Master Puba can have a blog on legallizing prostitution. ^-^

I geuss if you need some quick money and you have nothing, selling your organs would work. I geuss it really depends on how much your getting for them. I personally would rather get a job than sell one of my organs unless its a vestigial organ.

No thank you. I will keep my organs just in case someone I actually know and love may need them :) For some people, I can see how this would be an enticing way to earn money because you do get fast cash, but I will pass.

LAST RESORT. But on the other hand, you have the humanitarian standpoint. I'm keeping mine until I have someone that I know that really needs them.

If there is completely no other option, then hey, go for it. My thing is if someone lost eveything they had to have to resort to selling the organs, then how would they know which organs to sell? It really all depends on how desperate you are for the money. Not me though. I would not be dumb enough to loose everything to get to that option.

Let people do what they want with their organs. It is their choice to remove part or parts of their body. Personally, I would not sell my organs unless I am dead and my family chooses to donate mine. And Salami, prostitution is gross, who cares about the economy.

People should have the option of doing whatever they want with their organs. I will donate my organs when someone close to me needs them, and when I'm dead they can have them too. What do I need them for? I'm dead let someone else benefit.

Personally, I believe in the freedom for people to profit off themselves since in its nature, the Organ Black Market is able to save lives but then again, those such organs that allow others to extend their lives are being sold for profit. If possible, it would be nice to have some form of regulation in the organ dealing system, but if that would be so, the system that uses the organs for profit might be competing for organs with the system that doesn't operate for profit, as then, an individual has a choice to either donate their organ or be able to sell it.
