People should name their babies based on family members, names they like, or just something completely odd and uniqe. America is getting lazy, but I didn't think people would let the internet name their babies...
This site was fun! My name began in the 80s and when I was born in 1990, my name was ranked 70th! Cool stuff!
unfortunately, my name didn't exactly make it to the top. the only inference i can make of it is that glorious ancient names like mine just aren't fitting for babies anymore. who would really want to give a kid a name that has meaning and historical significance?
I think it's funny that according to this thing, more boys were named Kelly than girls up until about 2006. In the 1980s, my name (girls) was ranked 29th. Woo! Haha. It's fun to look up your own name and she how it looks, but do people really name their kids based on this thing?
I found it very interesting that my name was ranked 165 in the 1980's and then drastically increased to 26 in the 1990's. It is not too often that I meet another girl who spells or pronounces Brianna the same way as I do, but according to this site it is very common.
the name thing was kind of cool but with the names people are coming up wit today that baby timeline thing will have to change dramatically
I really don't care for this baby name wizard, partly because my name is not on the list. Yet this thing shows that some names are more common than others like Michael compared to Morris for example.
Angela was the name to have in the 1970s. I'm kinda glad names like mildred and beatrice died away
This site was really fun, but I was sad beacuse I could not found my name. However, I think babies should be name based on the means of the name. Each baby should have their own and uniqe neme, not just name based on the timeline.
Brandon was 11th in the 1990's. All I know is that I'm glad I'm not a Michael. I would hate to have all of these people sharing my name. I guess they get used to the whole "My name is Micheal. Oh really, mine too" conversations.
that was kinda interesting, took me a lil bit to figure out wut it was saying but i got it. my name was like hardly ever used in the past and kinda just shot up in the last decade or sumtin.
I didn't know Andrea was a popular name, at least not so popular that it would be on this list since the 1890's. It's popularity peaked in the 70s but has slowly been declining since.
Well, i couldn't find Cody so i was kinda of disapointed. But i found out that william was number two in 1960 and now its number 7. I guess that means im a cool guy since everyone wants my name? Well after viewing this journal entry i must say i could have lived without it and not been effected by it.
As a kid I always really wanted a common name, just so I could buy one of those license plates they sell at those touristy stores (remember like on the Simpsons when they ran out of "Bort" plates). My parents even almost named me Kristen(ranked 933 in 1940's but at the last minute changed it (I couldn't imagine being a Kristen anyway, it sounds dumb). Now I'm pretty glad my name is unique because its not ranked on any scale and it definitely fits my unique personality. Also, I've grown to be a stronger person because of the many years of people poking fun at my name (Pee on a rose, Pee in your pants, Pia Lot, etc.)
Interesting site. It seems that names like mine (especially the "y" spelling) are getting less and less common. Helen is almost extinct.
I liked being able to just browse through history so easily.
wow! my name was rank number one in 1970 but now it's like thirty eight!
Its nice to know that my name is on a comeback. Too bad more people arent named cockroft though, becuase that would life a lot easier. It should really be my first name.
Well, as I expected, my name was number 1 for basically the greater part of the 21st century so far. Personally, I think Emma will eventually beat out Emily, but we'll see.
